Aion 4.0 - Part 3: 6v6 Instance

I’ll keep this simple since I’m too lazy to go too in depth with the details…

It’s been labelled as the new dredgion, but it’s not entirely the same.

There is a lot more strategy and no time to stop and wait around in this instance. You also can’t end the instance before the timer is up by killing some captain mob, the instance ends after 20 minutes and whichever team has the most points wins.

Here is the layout…

As you see here, one team will start from the north and the other from the south. You see 4 balaur base camps, the idea is to attack and defend them while keeping both the balaur and the other team at bay until the 20 minute timer is up.

From what I understand, here’s how the scoring works…

PvP kill +100 Points

Destroy Wall +100 Points

Balaur Wall Guard +100 Points

Balaur Base Guard +125 Points

Balaur Guard Officer +200 Points

Senior Balaur Guard Officer +300 Points

Captured Base +5000 Points

I believe the loss in Points is equal to these values also. So for example, if a player dies you’d receive -100 points and if you lose a base you receive -5000 points! Once the PvE is dealt with it’s all just PvP… WRONG! After 10 minutes of holding the bases more balaur troops are sent to attack, so defend those bases!

This is what the rewards look like to some extent - not sure entirely what the bundle holds. Remember you can only run this once a day at 8-9pm server time.

Any of the above could be subject to chance since this is all on Korean test servers right now!

PvP making a minimal impact on score, by the looks of it.. hooray for a step in the wrong direction from dredge. @_@ Sure, killing the other team will allow for more PvE point farming.. but meh. 100 points is the bottom end of the reward in this!

I think you’re seeing this the wrong way crue!

I believe this encourages waaaay more PvP than dredge does. Dredge encourages PvE groups to rush surks, train mobs and rush the captain using cheap tactics just to claim a win. With the +/- 5000 points from bases it encourages the teams to actually defend and attack the other teams bases rather than toying with the balaur too much. It’s not like you can just take a balaur base by ninjaing some surk too unlike with dredge, you actually have to face the other team.

Came across this while checking some of my usual sources.

The stats translate as:

Hp +472, MP +330, Flight Time +87, Strike Resist +48, Spell Resist +14 and Strike Fortitude +92.

They’re basically a slight upgrade from Tiamat’s wings!

Aion 4.0 - Part 2 & 3: Hyperion Drop Mechanics

I just thought I’d post this considering it was just updated on the Korean gameguide. Also because of the new addition of the Hyperion Wings that have been added to Korean test servers.

The loot from the boss in Katalamize will look like this:

Quest Item
Eternal loot box
Fabled loot box
Misc slot (Junk items/power shards/etc)

Everyone in the entire alliance will receive this loot, much like in Runadium or DLR. Even though the loot setup seems similar to Runadium the drops/functions of these items is somewhat different.

1. Quest Item -

Every 10 of these collected will give you a piece of eternal quest armor or weapons. These pieces of gear are not the same as the eternal pieces that would normally drop from the loot box and do not have a set bonus.

2. Eternal Loot Box -

The eternal loot box is typically the loot box containing the gear. I put this picture together from the gameguide to make it clearer…

Unlike the Runadium loot box, this one actually produces a random piece of gear as soon as you open it. This box is also completely class specific. As some people may know Hyperion gear is divided into 2 sets for each class and the set bonuses are locked to a 6/6 bonus for having the full armor and corresponding weapon for that armor set. That is why you can see 2 sets of mythic gear in the armor & weapon columns. However there is only 1 eternal set locked to 1 type of weapon (which will be the default weapon for that class considered by the game).

3. Fabled Loot Box -

It says you can receive 4-5 from the following list:

(unsure if it’s locked to specific categories for multiples or if it’s just a mistranslation)

PvP Balic Designs (only place to aquire them)
L92-101 Enchantment stones
Fabled material (needed to craft invincibility water)
Medal
Fabled ancient manastone
Mythic material (needed for master crafted weapons)
Mythic material (needed for master crafted armor)
Mythic material (needed for master crafted accessories)
Mythic Hyperion Wings

I listed this post being for part 2 & 3, this is because for the most part this is how the loot will look in part 2 it’s just some of the drops (eg. some crafting mats and the wings) are things that haven’t been added until later in part 3.

Japan Aion has recently gotten 4.0 (which just leaves NA, Taiwan and EU to be the only sad sobs without 4.0), and here’s a nifty overview as to how awesome PvP has become in Katalam.

The basic rule of thumb in Katalam - once you’re outside the main city gates (as long it’s a fort, a base, PvE-ing etc); AFK at your own risk!

It does look way better than right now, but the majority of the areas shown by this sin… bleh… the safezone is way too close to the pvp. I know the majority of the new PvP zones are awesome, but this feeling of some areas being people going back and forth humping between safe zones like when Tiamaranta goes live just seems meh. I guess in a way at unlike Tiamaranta it’s 24/7 so maybe people will get over the whole humping safe zones… IDK!

Then you decide they are so shit it’s ok that you’re on 20% hp because you will kill them in a few hits anyway. Suddenly your opponent gets 2 para procs and you die with 1 second left.

Day 25 - Who do you play with?

Most of my game time I spend playing with Erin/Ayu, for obvious reasons. Outside of that I’d find myself either playing with myself (you can interpret that however you’d prefer) or a select few if we’re talking about consistently. Emptyshots (pelican) and Pasi I find myself quite often PvPing with in the few hours before and after daily resets, sometimes other things. Then Sam/Sirin, I’d like to say we do a lot but as always she is the most impossible person to arrange to do anything with and she only ever seems to join our groups out of impulse or if she’s busy hating someone (MY PRIME FUNCTION SEEMS TO BE THE SHOULDER SHE RAGES ON). I do group with other people whether it’s other legion members/friends, rerolls from the elyos side, people Erin makes me group with or people Sam makes me group with… but I feel these 4 are the main people I do things with.

Looking through my screenshots I actually have two. The first being somehow back when I started playing again in 2.0 I went to Dark Poeta and somehow knocked over the teleporter boss with my 2k dp, not only on my screen but the whole group could see it! The second being waaaaay back in 1.5, duelling a friend and knocking them down resulting in them being stuck to the end of my spear up until they decided to log out. I miss these kinds of glitches!

I doubt 22nd June is 4.0 since that is a Saturday and even with major patches they usually stick to launching them on the Wednesday maintenance. Besides this event finishes on the 12th - so chances are it will either be released on the 12th, 19th or 26th. Hopefully we will know in the next week or 2, they usually seem to give 1-2 weeks notice before they release the major patches. Like how I put “usually” in bold? Especially since they seem terrible at communicating with the community up until the very last moment as of recently.

Day 23 - The longest time you’ve gone without playing?

I think the longest must have been for 3-4 months. I think this was because I was getting overloaded with work at university, initially I intended on permanently quitting but of course I got sucked right back in because there is no escape. I believe this was during the first server merger bullshit, which was how I ended up being stuck with the name KumaVZ for about 6 months.

Aion 4.0 - part 3: Rank Nerf on 65aug

As you may have saw in the #aion feed, Korea had a minor patch added today. Not only did they introduce some new mythic wings but they also added several nerfs and changes.

One of these nerfs being lowering the rank requirement to wear 65a armor from 1-star officer down to rank 1. The 60e and mythic 60a stay the same though, great general and governer. So for those worrying about keeping an officer rank, once NA gets part 3 (probably not until autumn or winter this year), you won’t have to worry anymore.

I wanted to bring you the stats of the new wings but as of right now they haven’t been added to the Korean gameguide.

Most of my pets are named the people I play with or inside jokes that possibly only we will understand. The rest however are just ridiculous. Also yes… I have a lot named after Sam.

Aion 4.0 - part 3: Southern Commander Weapons/Shield

Much like the armor, these mythic weapons seem to share the same Beritra skin as various other weapons but have a white/silver base colour to them. I actually kind of like the white weapons unlike the armor. These mythic weapons only drop off the hardest rank boss in the Southern Military Base instance. Statwise they are comparable to the weapons that come from the Runadium instace minus the ancient manastone socket.
